Unveiling Of Memorial Plaque For Our Founder Fr. Edmund Szeliga

The Polish Embassy unveiled on Thursday, December 9, 2021, in the park of the same name, a beautiful commemorative plaque for Father Edmundo Szeliga Kozik, a Salesian missionary who dedicated his life to the study and promotion of Peruvian natural medicine, with particular interest in the study he conducted on the benefits of cat's claw (uncaria tomentosa), which was the motivation for founding our IPIFA institute more than thirty years ago.

Unveiling of the commemorative plaque for our founder Fr. Edmund Szeliga

IPIFA, remains to this day our research house directed by him in spirit and hearing in our hearts, as if he were still among us, the adage he used to recite when saying goodbye or greeting: with faith and joy.
In order to perpetuate the memory of Father Edmundo, the Polish Embassy in Lima kindly provided us with a space in this important event where priests from other congregations and the same one founded by Don Bosco could evoke him in moving anecdotes.
On our part, the Board of Directors of IPIFA was deeply moved to share what follows the guidance of Father Edmundo Szeliga in this Christian task of bringing health to those who require it and also to note that both the work of exploration and promotion of Andean and Amazonian plants in the phytotherapy center are still in force.
Antonia Antonina Magdalena Śniadecka-Kotarska, Ambassador of Poland in Peru, who managed the details for the realization of this event and who sent us the invitations to this just tribute to the memory of Edmundo Szeliga.

The Ulma family. Thanks to the help of the inhabitants of Markowa, 21 of the 120 Jews living there survived the war.

The beatification of the Ulma family has the particularity that, for the first time in the history of the Church, an unborn child will also be raised to the altars. Victoria Ulma was seven months pregnant. This child, according to the teaching of the Church, received the baptism of blood, which gives the fruits of baptism without being a sacrament. The Church thus emphasizes that an unborn child is entitled to human dignity and all the rights that derive from it.

The beatification of the Ulma family reminds the world of the need to respect the life of every human being and to be firm in the defense of values. Perhaps in the secularized Western world it may come as a surprise that parents were willing to risk not only their own lives, but also those of their children, to save people of another nationality and religion. This attitude, however, stems from the rootedness in Christianity that still characterizes Polish culture. Such an attitude was also adopted by other Polish saints: saint Maksymilian Kolbe, Blessed Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński, Blessed priest Jerzy Popiełuszko, saint John Paul II. Solidarity, which also sprang from this same trunk, led to the fall of communist totalitarianism and the collapse of the division of the world into two hostile camps. This happened "thanks to the efforts of people who did not resort to violence, but who, systematically refusing to yield to the power of force, always knew how to find effective ways of bearing witness to the truth" (St. John Paul II, Centesimus Annus).

EDMUND SZELIGA SDB 1911 - 2005 Salesian missionary who dedicated 70 years of his life to the indigenous peoples and the most needy. Precursor of alternative medicine with native plants of the Amazon and the Amphibians, especially the cat's claw - Vilcacora - he was promoter and founder in 1983 of the Peruvian Institute of Andean Phytotherapic Research (IPIFA).

We also extend our thanks to the editors of the newspapers Expreso and La Razon, who covered the details of the meeting. In a way, this helps us to introduce Bro. Edmundo, sbd, and his inspirations to those who do not know him.
May this demonstration of love for the one who is no longer on this Earth serve to forge, even more, the relations between Peru and Poland; and to strengthen the fight for a more affordable and healthy medicine.

Your medicine, known as "Uncaria Tomentosa" or "Cat's Clow" or "Vilcacora - in polish", we (my wife and I) are using every day in its "drops".
form added to little bit of water...! I already passed 75 years of age and my wife Elizabeth will pass this year (2024) her 77 years of age. But we are using this medicine for few years, with some breaks, after 3 months of use. We are also recommending yor medicines to others...!
Among our friends and families in USA and in Poland (....we are polish origin...) but living permanently in USA. If we may ask for some medicines from..., then would be for my wife's "Longs and breathing condidion" to support those organs and she has some blood pressure issue as well...? About myself as the man, I would like to ask you for some natural medicine for my "Prostate problem and urination" and for my swollen ankles... I do Not feel blood pressure or any other diseases and in our diets we are using organic vegetables and salads, plus we are also using vitamins and food supplements. I am also observing reading newspaper problems and I did buy glasses in a store...!...!?
