IPIFA is the ONLY institution founded, supported and recognized on an uninterrumped basis by Salesian Polish priest Edmund Szeliga, since 1983 until he passed away in 2005. Fr. Edumnd Szeliga left no will or any other document granting third parties permanent representation or recognition rights in realtion to medical plants.
The Salesian congregation has ONLY recognized the private non-profit entity founded in Lima in 1983 by Fr. Edmund Szeliga sdb, called INSTITUTO PERUANO DE INVESTIGACIÓN FITOTERÁPICA ANDINA (Peruvian Institute of Andean Phytotherapeutic Research - IPIFA in Spanish achronym).
The Szeliga family has expressly authorized IPIFA to use and register, on an EXCLUSIVE and EXCLUDING basis, the name "EDMUND SZELIGA" and all distinctive signs that it may deem convenient at any public or private administrative entity, both in Peru and abroad.
IPIFA is duly registered under Electronic Card No. 11022511 in the Register Office of Lima and Callao (ORLC) Lima Office
Registry of Legal Entities, as well as in the Peruvian Ministry of Health.
Furthermore, the legal rights to the IPIFA Trademark have been duly registered by means of Certificate No. 00022073, as well as Certificate No. 00041746, of the National Institute for the Protection of Free Competition and Intellectual Property – INDECOPI.
The Community Trademark INSTYTUT EDMUND SZELIGA is registered at both the EU Register of Community Trademarks and OAMI, as evidenced by its certificate of Registration No. 011629871.
